What is DMA Firmware?

Firmware is the software that lives on your DMA card itself. Essentially it tells your computer what the card is, what it does, and how it should behave. Without proper firmware, your DMA card shows up as an unknown or suspicious device, which is a red flag for anti-cheat systems. What a lot of the other websites don't tell you is that emulated firmware is simply a replica of a known device on your computer like a Network Adaptor or Sound card. Its that simple! When you plug the card into the host machine and look at Device Manager it will look like a normal device.

What Is DMA and How Does It Work?

DMA stands for Direct Memory Access (DMA) and is a technology that allows hardware devices to transfer data between themselves and memory without involving the central processing unit (CPU).

Unlike traditional software solutions that run on your gaming PC (and can be spotted by anti-cheat), DMA operates through a small PCIe card installed in your gaming computer. This card connects to a second computer via a high-speed cable, allowing the second PC to read your game's data directly from memory — without ever touching the game process or the operating system.

A DMA card with default or no firmware sticks out like a sore thumb. Anti-cheat software scans your PCIe devices and checks their identities. If it sees something it doesn't recognize — or something that looks like a known DMA development board — it can flag or ban you.

Also you should avoid using aim assist, this produces an unnatural movement vector in the game which the Anti-cheat system picks up on immediately.
